TECDP Internship/Co-op Program

Internship

The Technology Early Career Development Program (TECDP) summer internship offers students interested in the field of technology a realistic experience of what it’s like to work in the Information Technology organization at Cigna. TECDP interns are assigned challenging positions and are expected to make meaningful contributions to Cigna projects.

 

TECDP summer internships are paid and available in Connecticut and select remote offices. Summer housing is provided for all TECDP interns.

 

The TECDP summer internship is designed to develop an individual’s IT and leadership skills, talents, and interests. TECDP interns may hold the following roles:

  • Delivery Management
  • Application Development
  • Production Support
  • Quality Assurance

 

With many different opportunities available, students have many diverse options to match their current skills and interests.

 

 

Co-Op

The Technology Early Career Development Program currently partners with Drexel University and their Cooperative Education (Co-op) program. This partnership gives technology students hands-on experience in a professional environment. Students get an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day work and collaborate with experienced professionals to contribute to the many exciting initiatives at Cigna.

 

Co-op positions are paid, available in the Philadelphia, PA office and are 6 months in length.

 

TECDP Co-ops develop technical skills and business acumen while working as a member of the team in one of the various Cigna lines of business. Co-op roles and responsibilities could include:

  • Delivery Management
  • Developing new business applications
  • Production Support
  • Quality Assurance

 

With many different opportunities available, students have many diverse options to match their current skills and interests. The TECDP Program Manager will work with the Co-Ops to determine the best role for them prior to starting.

 

 

Extended Internship Program

The TECDP Extended Internship Program is designed to identify quality talent for future employment with Cigna as associates in the Technology Early Career Development Program (TECDP). 

 

Students have opportunities to participate in this 14 weeks paid internship in the Cigna innovation labs on campus; locations include the University of Connecticut (Storrs Campus) and Eastern Connecticut State University.

 

The students have the opportunity to work on real Cigna projects, approximately 10-25 hours per week, in application development roles. Cigna managers will be on site, once per week, in the innovation labs to aid in career development and day-to-day assistance with deliverables.

 

As either an Intern or a Co-op, you should expect to participate in:

  • Senior-level management speaker series presentations and luncheons
  • Informational panel discussions and development workshops on technology, healthcare, business functions, leadership, and more
  • Mentoring and business coaching
  • Networking through intern events and social receptions

 

Preferred Qualifications (Internship & Co-op):

We are looking for people with passion, energy, and innovation.

  • Working towards an undergraduate degree in Information Science & Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline
  • A GPA of 3.2 or better preferred
  • Competency in various programming languages
  • Previous applicable work experience through internship, co-op, or part-time employment
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and perseverance
  • Innovative thinker with passion and energy for technology
  • Desire to develop business and technical skills through ongoing training and challenging assignments
  • Active participation in extracurricular activities, particularly in leadership roles
