Challenge Yourself

As an entry-level Tel-Drug Pharmacist duties may include:

  • Review and verification of prescriptions to assure accuracy, legal compliance, and appropriateness of therapy
  • Use of automated equipment to ensure medication accuracy
  • Counseling patients by phone concerning the proper use of their medications
  • Responsibility for physician contact – either by phone or fax – to receive new prescriptions or clarify items on in-house prescriptions
  • Mentoring and education of other staff members

 

Teach Yourself

The goal of the CIGNA Tel-Drug Pharmacy internship is to produce a student who, by graduation from their pharmacy program, is ready to assume the duties of a pharmacist. During our 10-week summer program in Horsham, PA, pharmacy interns will gain a greater knowledge of home delivery pharmacy, its contributions to patient care, and the overall contribution to the healthcare environment. As a Pharmacy intern, your areas of experience will include:

  • Assisting our pharmacists in various professional and technical activities associated with the entry of prescription information and dispensing of medications
  • Interaction with both patients and providers
  • Participation in assigned training programs, including creation and delivery of pertinent programs to other members of the Tel-Drug team
  • Involvement in enterprise-wide intern events

 

Differentiate Yourself

 

Intern

  • Current Pharmacy school student
  • Ability to read and interpret prescriptions
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well individually, as well as in a team environment
  • Appropriate level of computer skills

 

Pharmacist

  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Bachelors Degree or Pharm. D required
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing
  • Familiarity with standard pharmacy concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Strong work ethic and the desire to lead by example
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well individually, as well as in a team environment
  • Appropriate level of computer skills
